Según el artículo 16 del capítulo IX del Reglamento de Reconocimineto al Mérito Universitario de mi Universidad: El reconocimiento "Cum Laude" es la mención que se otorga a los alumnos que sustenten examen de manera excepcional y cuyos trabajos sean de valía extraordinaria (i.e., a un paso de "Summa cum laude").
Según varios amigos y familiares: Es algo que dice en tu título que te ayuda a conseguir mejores empleos, etc. Es el tope que otros tienen que alcanzar e incluso superar, o sea, vanidad y orgullo.
Cuando uno obtiene algo, no puede desearlo más (pues ya lo tiene), lo que en realidad desea es conservar ese algo y no perderlo. De esta manera, cuando obtienes un cum laude ya no puedes perderlo. Sin embargo, mucha gente querrá que seas cum laude, que seas un cerebro en un palo; y si resbalas, eres un cerebro en un palo de mentiras. Y solo tus mas allegados y algunos más comprensivos (otros laureados), entenderán tu condición humana.
